We feel incredibly blessed to call this house our home now. From the moment we stepped inside, we could tell it had been deeply loved. It holds so many sweet memories from the family before us, and we truly hope to honor that by raising our girls here and continuing the love they poured into it.
That being said… it was ready for a little refresh. The bones were pretty solid, but it hadn’t seen much updating in a long while. One of the first things to go? The fiery orange/red carpet—bless it. It seriously would have been the perfect place for a game of "Floor is Lava.” We had great laughs and it was the first thing EVERYONE who walked in mentioned!

We didn’t make too many big structural changes, just opened things up a bit. We took down one wall and bumped another back to make the kitchen area feel more open and family-friendly. It’s amazing how a few changes can completely shift the feel of a space.

Of course, in true Brigman fashion, nothing can be simple! As soon as demo got rolling, we found a little termite damage in the kitchen.. The HVAC ductwork was also an issue that had to be dealt with as well- it was running through the ceiling in the hallway so it made it feel super short only being 7ft high, which if you know my husband, Leroy (who is 6'4") was not a fan. So we had that reworked into the attic making it not only more aesthetic but more functional throughout the house too. All it takes is time and money, right?!

The remodel is just about wrapped up now, and we’re officially moving in this weekend—cue all the emotions! But before we dive into the “afters,” I wanted to take you all along for the ride. So let’s start at the beginning…
Can’t wait to walk you through the journey of how we got from there… to what it is now. I will continue to post more of the progression as I get time!
